Lustry n.p, Kamenicky Senov

History

Lustry n.p. Kamenický Šenov was established as a national enterprise in the 1950s but it continued the legacy of renowned glass and chandelier manufacturers that operated in the region as early as the 17th century.

It was the direct successor to prominent pre-war companies such as:

• Elias Palme (founded 1849) – one of the oldest chandelier manufacturers in Kamenický Šenov, known for exporting crystal lighting worldwide.

• J. & L. Lobmeyr (Prague branch) – the famous Viennese lighting company, with long-standing cooperation with Czech glassmakers.

• Other regional firms like Gebrüder Palme, F. A. Palme, and family-run chandelier workshops whose operations were nationalized after 1948.

Through post-war centralization, Lustry n.p. unified local expertise and brought traditional glassmaking and lighting craft into modern industrial production, while preserving artistic standards.

Artists & Designers

Lustry n.p. is known for its technical excellence and its collaborations with major Czech glass artists:

• René Roubíček – designer of sculptural pieces like Explosion, used in monumental installations.

• Karel Volf – created elegant floor and pendant lamps using triplex opal glass for upscale interiors.

• František Vízner, Milan Míšek, Oldřich Lípa – artists whose works represented Czechoslovakia at fairs and exhibitions.

• The company also worked with architects on custom lighting for embassies, theatres, and world expos.

Global Reach

The company exported to over 50 countries including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, the USSR, and the USA. Its chandeliers were showcased at EXPO 58 in Brussels, Osaka 1970, and installed in state buildings and luxury hotels.

Today – Preciosa Lighting

After 1989, Lustry n.p. transformed into Preciosa Lighting, which continues to operate in Kamenický Šenov. Preciosa produces custom, high-end lighting installations for international clients, blending tradition with innovation.
