Fischel Fischel

The Fischel company was one of the most important bentwood furniture manufacturers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
It was founded in 1871 by David Gabriel Fischel in Deutsch Brod (today Český Brod, Czech Republic), after obtaining a production license from the renowned Michael Thonet, whose bentwood technique Fischel further refined and developed.

From the start, Fischel focused on producing high-quality, affordable bentwood furniture – chairs, armchairs, tables, and accessories for homes, cafés, and public interiors.
The company quickly became one of the leading competitors to brands like Thonet and Jacob & Josef Kohn.

Fischel furniture is characterized by elegant curves, light construction, and the refined aesthetics of the Vienna Secession, combining simplicity with functional beauty.
In later years, the designs evolved toward geometric and early modernist forms, anticipating the coming functionalist movement.

With its exceptional craftsmanship and international reach, Fischel became a globally recognized brand, exporting its furniture throughout Europe, America, and beyond.
Today, Fischel pieces are highly valued by collectors and design enthusiasts as iconic examples of early 20th-century European craftsmanship and design heritage.
