Dřevopodnik Holešov n.p. Dřevopodnik Holešov n.p.

Dřevopodnik Holešov, a national enterprise, was one of the major Czechoslovak manufacturers of wooden furniture in the second half of the 20th century. Based in Holešov, in the Zlín region of the Czech Republic, the company built on the area's deep woodworking traditions.

Formed through the nationalization of private carpentry and joinery workshops in the 1950s, the company supplied furniture for households, public interiors, and exports. Its signature products included dining and coffee tables, wardrobes, sideboards, and particularly chairs and armchairs with elegant mid-century modern lines.

Dřevopodnik Holešov collaborated with Czechoslovak designers and artists, creating pieces that reflected the aesthetics of functionalism, and later embraced more organic forms. Much of its production was exported to Western Europe and Scandinavia, where its clean and minimal design found many admirers.

Following the political changes of 1989, the enterprise underwent restructuring. Today, furniture from Dřevopodnik Holešov is highly collectible and stands as an important part of the Czechoslovak design legacy.
